Hachiquant vs Buffett Code
Buffett Code and Hachiquant both show the financial statements of Japanese listed companies. Buffett Code is a long-running Japanese-language site with screening, company comparison, forecasts and shareholder data, on a free plan and paid plans. Hachiquant does less, for free: statements and ratios for about 4,000 companies from official filings, in English and Japanese, with a free API that needs no key. Buffett Code’s details below come from its pricing page, checked on October 17, 2026.

What Buffett Code does well
Buffett Code covers far more than statements. Its pricing page lists screening and company comparison, consensus forecasts, shareholder pages, stock price charts and downloads, earnings presentation materials, and a spreadsheet add-on and Excel add-in on its top plan. Higher plans add US companies to screening and comparison. If you read Japanese and want one place for fundamentals, forecasts and prices, it does more than Hachiquant.
What Hachiquant does differently
- It’s free, with no account or plan limits on how many years you see.
- Every page is in English as well as Japanese.
- Each series stays on one accounting standard and one consolidation scope. When a company switches from J-GAAP to IFRS, the series is broken at the switch instead of joining the two.
- Every figure is traceable to the filing it came from.
- The REST API and the MCP server for AI assistants are free and need no key.
- The data can be reused, including commercially, if you credit the source as the terms page explains.
Hachiquant has no stock prices, forecasts or shareholder data.
Which should you use?
Use Buffett Code if you want forecasts, stock prices and shareholder data next to the statements, and you’re comfortable in Japanese. Use Hachiquant if you want full statements in English for free, or programmatic access without a contract. Many people will want both.
